The DC Buppie
The DC Buppie
I once was told that as a professional person, it is important that one have a solid introduction. A pitch of some sort… Well this is buppietheblog, so EFF all dat!
I am the DC Buppie. Straight up,
I am unapologetically black/negro/African American.
I grew up middle class. I only recently came to this conclusion, because my parents made us feel broke.
I will admit, that as apart of my comfortable lifestyle I can be pompous, siddity, OK and EVEN bit uppity.
I balance my little bit of sassiness and attitude with some saavy smarts (both book and streets).
I work hard but I laugh even harder, and often times at others expense.
YOU can expect me to bring you true buppielife in Hi-Def. (With a bit of sarcasm and wit.)
What makes you a Buppie?
The following defines a list of why I consider myself a Buppie:
(Disclaimer: This may not be what makes you a buppie, but it’s why I am a Buppie.)
- I have a great job, hence the professional part.
- I like to explore the arts and all things worldly. No! I am not stuck or set on the “hood” lifestyle.
- Me live in the suburbs?? Do I look barefoot and preggers??! Hayle naw. A true Buppie lives in the midst of where it’s goes down. A CITY. Even if you don’t live there…you are close enough to spend most of your time there and not milking cows. and spend most of your time there.
- I have Loot. Come on! A True buppie’s has to have a good cash flow. We understand it’s important to maintain good credit to buy land, cars, stocks and clothes.
- My friends are buppies. You are who you hang with and me and my people’s have discriminating buppie taste.
- I read. A good buppie reads books. All the things white people dont want you to know, they put in books. Buppie’s must READ to keep up.
